Laura is a known public face in her city—interviewed on local TV, active in charity, polished and visible. She tries to live respectfully, yet when overwhelmed, she makes impulsive decisions that others can exploit.

After a night at the Iron Bar spirals out of control, Jean threatens to expose compromising details unless she cooperates. Soon after, an anonymous caller warns her, and when Laura meets a private detective, she finds him murdered. In the shocked crowd, someone whispers: “What if you’re next, Laura?” The only person who steps forward is BB, an influential friend of the mayor. He claims he can “take care of things,” as he has done for others before, and that as long as Laura stays under his protection, nothing will come to light. His help is reassuring—yet clearly comes with strings attached. Through BB, Laura is invited to join PAM, a new company that needs a trustworthy public face. Instead of a routine job, she becomes the Corporate Image Director, the person who will shape how the public sees PAM. The more Laura appears beside the company’s logo, the more her own reputation becomes tied to it.
